There was cold cases to solve, romances to love, WHAT moments and me scream-reading at Rem to put the pieces to discover the Jackson killer (who I guessed correct in book 5 - may I be Rem's crime fighting partner?) “I don't know what it is, but I have learned that I can live with the past mistakes much easier than without the blessings of today.” I can go on and on about how great this series was, how the authors took it to the next level, how, if you are patient, you will grow along with Rem in his journey to correct things, to see the truth and come face to face with that and God, but...READ THIS SERIES! “What if it's not our regrets that make us who we are, but the choices after the regrets?” I hope to reread this series soon on audio! *I received a complimentary copy from the author. Goodness, where to begin? This series vastly outperformed even my wildest expectations and this final installment couldn't have been more perfectly written. 2021 has been a wonderful year full of unforgettable books and The True Lies of Rembrandt Stone Series is hands down my favorite of the year. Countless conversations had amongst fellow fans, speculating just how the author would wrap up Rembrandt's adventures in this last book. This series has made me laugh, cry, scream, howl in frustration, and peer through fingers bracing for what gut-wrenching shenanigans would derail Rembrandt at the turn of the next page. But mostly this series made me cheer passionately for these people, these characters that have become like family to me. The author did an extraordinary job of writing not only Rembrandt and his wife, Eve (best characters ever), but the entire assortment of characters surrounding those two. The suspense kept me on the edge of my seat, and the unknowns kept me guessing up until the end. What a perfectly satisfying, leave me with happy tears in my eyes (at 2:00 am, mind you), how did they wrap it all up so well, kind of series closer.

“They say that without hope, people perish. I say hope crushes the soul.” “Maybe the journey isn’t about fixing things, but…the journey itself.” “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just, and will forgive our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” What an amazing ride and journey this book series has been. And Book 6, Heart Of Stone, is no exception. This book and series has everything I look for in books: suspense, grittiness, mystery, humor, good vs. evil, multilayered characters, “They say that without hope, people perish. And Book 6, Heart Of Stone, is no exception. This book and series has everything I look for in books: suspense, grittiness, mystery, humor, good vs. evil, multilayered characters, and profound faith elements. And for someone who doesn’t like romance in Christian books, this series is the exception. I found so much of it to be genuine, from the characters’ feelings to their dialogue to their actions. Which I admit, can be a bit ironic how genuine it feels considering it is a time travel book where suspension of belief is required. But of course, this book and series is so much more more than this. It is a faith journey that just so happens to mash together time travel and detective crime fiction flawlessly together. This is definitely a crown jewel in Christian fiction and I can’t believe that I almost passed over reading this when it first came out. I’m glad I saw all the positive Goodreads reviews and gave it a try! What was great about Heart Of Stone is that it wraps up the entire series perfectly. For the first five books, you come to expect that Rembrandt Stone will do his best to solve a crime while adversely affecting his future with an breathtaking cliffhanger. All these mistakes or alterations were a learning experience and I really liked the theme of how we don’t go through life perfectly and it’s the mistakes and the seasons of valleys that make us who we are. And it’s trust in God that allows us to see the blessings of our lives. My only complaint in this book is that the villain was not a surprise. I was expecting a twist but that’s okay. Sometimes the journey more than makes up for it. * I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book which I received from the author. All views expressed are only my honest opinion.

My heart is still pounding. This series has been the most intense, thrilling, page turning series I have ever read. Every single book had had me sitting at the edge of my seat. Holding my breath. I mean how in the world was Rembrandt going to get his happy ending? And would it look the same as the very beginning? It's extremely hard to talk about this installment of the book, well any of them honestly, without giving spoilers. So, I'll just say this - this ending was better than I could have imagined. I mean, there were moments I was barely breathing, but for good reason. The way the characters were all brought together, how the bad guys were found, the story behind why everything had happened, and even a surprise twist that I just kind of sat there for awhile smiling about. I can't really put into words how I feel about this book, or the series as a whole. It has been amazing ride, and I am so very sorry it's over. I hope these three talented authors come together and bring us another series. I will be the first in line to preorder! I highly recommend this series. Just be prepared to buckle up, and go on the most thrilling ride of your life. I received a complimentary copy of this book. I was not required to write a favorable review. There’s nothing better than a series that keeps you on your toes, and The True Lies of Rembrandt Stone does exactly that! It’s the perfect, stunning conclusion to Rembrandt Stone’s story. The True Lies of Rembrandt Stone series kicked off with a bang – it was full of action and excitement, but there wasn’t a great deal of inspirational action. That did leave room for character growth, however, and that element has ramped up more with each subsequent release until all those pieces came together with a bang in this story. I think that slow burn makes this series accessible for readers with or without their own faith: everyone who loves action-packed suspense. With a male protagonist, it’s the perfect series for men to read, and I feel like there aren’t as many of those out there. The lessons in this book aren’t just of general faith, but also those that men of faith should know. It’s been exciting to read this series as it released, and Heart of Stone caps off the series perfectly; but it’s also been really hard to wait for the next book after finishing the prior one. If you haven’t started this series yet, now’s the perfect time – collect all six, clear your calendar for a few days, and settle in to binge read the epic adventure story of the hunky Rembrandt Stone. I can’t think of a better winter plan. I received a complimentary copy of this book from the authors. All opinions are my own.

I was SO ready for this story, but I was was NOT ready for this series to be done. This past year tagging along with Rembrandt and all of the other characters has been quite the ride! My heart rate was always high as I dove into each new story. Same went for this one! I'm still trying to grasp everything in this last story! You wonder how authors will bring so many threads together of a story, and they did it seamlessly. All of the dots connected and came together in a last ditch effort for Rem to find a time he could live in. Much to say that I can't. The twists and turns keep you turning the page, heart rate raising as you go. But the need to know is so great, you have no choice but to take it all in! Once again, one of my FAVORITE parts of the story is when Rem talks to us like we're right there with him because, hello, we are! Right. There! I also love how Rem's faith evolved, especially through this story. You could see through each story that Rem is being pulled in so many directions, but Hope is what seems to elude him. I appreciate how the authors incorporated God revealing himself to Rem through so many situations and people! You guys, do NOT miss this story... this series! It's incredible and will always be one of my all time favorites!! *I received this book for review. This is my personal opinion.

“Living one day at a time. Taking the world as it is, not as I would have it. Trusting that He will make all things right…if I surrender… It sounds like a time traveler’s prayer, doesn’t it?” Ah, Rem. What an incredible adventure it’s been. It’s an unforgettable journey of spiritual discovery, costly forgiveness, learning to let go of control and fears and haunting regrets, and finding the courage to trust. I loved that I was never sure of what would happen to Rem this last go around time travel. “Living one day at a time. Taking the world as it is, not as I would have it. I loved that I was never sure of what would happen to Rem this last go around time travel. My heart was literally in my throat the whole entire book. The authors really step it up in this final book of the six book series and they start Rem in an almost unthinkable present, pull him through another changed past to finally start unraveling the mystery of the unsolved murders, and land him back into a present that will have you bawling. If you had to pick one book series in 2021 to read, this is it. I received the book from the publisher and was under no obligation to post a positive comment. All opinions are solely my own.

I've been eagerly anticipating Heart Of Stone since picking up the first True Lies Of Rembrandt Stone book several months ago. Surprisingly, this final book in the series from the combined talent of David James Warren turned out to be my favorite of them all. Honestly, I didn't really expect that in the slightest. Yes, I was a bit sorry to be saying goodbye to Rem, Eve, Booker, and the others, but I was also excited to finally get answers. For five books Rem has struggled and fought to control the outcome of his life. Each choice just seems to make things spiral even more out of control. But, maybe that's what he needs. To let go and let God. Maybe when he does so things will finally slide into place where they always should have been... But, as much as this book asks some of the deeper questions of life...it's also entertaining as all get out. There were so many twists and turns in Heart Of Stone that I wondered a time or two if even James Rubart, Susan May Warren, and David Curtis Warren could possibly bring it all around to the ending I wanted and one Rem could live with. I loved seeing all of the various threads from each of Rem's time travel timelines in the previous books finally come together in one, slightly gritty, and riveting conclusion. The best book in the True Lies Of Rembrandt Stone series, Heart Of Stone is a fitting finale to a thrilling story from the combined expertise and talent of David James Warren. This is one series that you won't want to miss even if time travel is not your usual genre of choice. Just remember, be stalwart.... (I received a copy of this book from the author/publisher. Overall, Heart of Stone was a high octane suspense chase through the pages of Rem’s life as he tries to finally return his life back to normal. What a wonderful story! I loved the way Warren kept the reader guessing at the end of each novel, begging me to return to the next installment, which luckily enough, I did not have to wait to long to read. This book deserves so much more than five stars. This entire series has been my favorite book journey this year and this is arguably the best series I have read in a really long time, maybe ever. What a wild, nail-biting, heart-pounding, nerve-wracking ride this series has been! Heart of Stone brings Rem's story to a perfectly satisfying conclusion, although he definitely has to work for it. This story, like all the others in this series, picks up right after the last book. Rem has to figure out what to do to fix things while simultaneously adapting to who he is in this timeline. I loved that finally, finally he has a bit of help. There is one important player there to give him some insight and some other characters to give him some help. That aspect made this story not feel as disorienting as the others did at points because Rem feels a bit more stable. There is also a moment where he's in a religious AA group and he finds some grounding in faith. In trusting someone other than himself to help make things right. The inspirational element didn't feel forced or preachy, although it did feel slightly jarring because up to this point in the series there was no religious element except the occasional mention. However, for Rem personally, who has only really trusted himself and also blamed himself, this has a huge affect for him. The danger and suspense are weaved throughout the story with some climatic moments, making for an intense read. These authors do such a fabulous job in keeping readers guessing. I knew who the villain was, but had no clue how it was all going to play out. This series, for me, has been this mix of crazy, true crime, sci-fi, intense, romantic, fiction. It feels raw and genuine. Of course, I love the storyline because it definitely kept me turning the pages, but more than that, I love these characters! Rembrandt is this tough and smart detective with a million rough edges, and Eve, who can definitely hold her own, softens those edges, grounds him while also adding to his drive. Both of them honestly drive each other in their professions but also in who they are as people and what becomes important. They go around in circles a bit in this series, but I loved seeing things come to a head and then a conclusion in this final book. Not everything is easy or perfect, but it all works out perfectly for this series. In the end, was it what I wished for? I have really enjoyed this series and this was a great ending. I would love to go back and read all six of these one after the other. It's a crazy, roller-coaster of a ride. I'm looking forward to seeing what this trio of authors do in the future, although I don't know that they could ever top Rembrandt Stone. Content: Some violence and innuendo, but clean. Rembrandt's look and associates may have changed, but his primary goal has not: to use the time-travel watch to regain his old life, the life where Eve was his wife and Ashley his little girl. He's still hoping that they are not lost to him forever. But his hopes have taken a beating; his efforts, thus far, have been fruitless. Yet he tries, over and over. If his own personal efforts (well, and also the knowledge he's gained about events in all his trips across the space-time continuum) can't regain him the life he has lost, what will? Heart of Stone continues its rollercoaster ride for readers across time, suspense, action, and even love. You won't want to miss this conclusion to "The True Lies of Rembrandt Stone" series. I read this book in one sitting because I HAD to know what happened to my friend Rem, but also because this is edge-of-your-seat storytelling. All of the trademark aspects of this series continue to ring true in the final installment, and my word, it is a feelings trip FOR SURE. "Fix it Jesus" has been my motto from the beginning of this series and I will say that it reached maximum intensity in this one, largely because I knew it was the last one and it was absolutely imperative that we get it right. Basically, this series is a whole trip and each book has put me through the wringer, but (heaven help me) each one has been worth it. And this last one? The one that wraps up our time with Rem and Eve and Booker and Burke and Shelby and Arthur and all the cold cases and that one truly awful bad person? It is *chef's kiss* perfection. This is how it's done, folks. I received a complimentary copy of this novel from the author. All expressed opinions belong to me.

As I’ve traveled through time for five books with Rembrandt Stone, at the end of each—but none so much as book five—how was he going to get out of this mess? The Rembrandt we’ve grown to know over the previous books is still all there. The man who is slightly sarcastic and maybe a little bit egotistical who loves fast cars and classic rock is all there. But through all of his time traveling adventures, he has matured in so many ways that his revelations and acceptance of his purpose in this final book carries more weight. Rembrandt sums it up so well in these words: “A thousand tiny things…but I can’t change them all, every choice I make is a choice to change something else in the future. I don’t know what it is, but I have learned that I can live with the past mistakes much easier than without the blessings of today.” If you have missed out on this series (or maybe were waiting for it to be completed before picking up the first book), now is the time dig in and enjoy the ride. Heart of Stone by David James Warren Book 6 in the True Lies of Rembrandt Stone series Rating: 4.5/5 What an ending! Such a whirlwind of a book and series. It's been so fun being a part of the Rembrandt Stone world this whole year. I have enjoyed each and every book and it's a bit bittersweet for the series to end. You definitely need to read the other five books first since it's a continuing story. This series would make a great TV series. "They say that without hope, people perish. I say hope crushes the soul." The story is well written and fast-paced filled with the characters I am now familiar with. I am rooting for Eve and Rem and their epic love story. Time travel is always an interesting literary device and I wish there was a little bit more explanation about how it all works but I think the authors did their best to explain it in an understandable manner. This book really asked some deeper questions of Rembrandt and his faith in God. Of all the books, this last one definitely has the most about faith and prayer than the others. It's always interesting how the authors incorporate faith into a sci-fi novel. "What if it’s not our regrets that make us who we are, but the choices after the regrets?" Highly recommend if you enjoy time-traveling detective stories with high stakes, action and a love that spans decades. My thanks to the author and publisher for providing me with an ARC of the book. He learns from his past mistakes and recognizes that the journey is more important than the destination. Rem has changed from the first book in the series and grown through his time travel journeys. He is more likeable and relatable. Rem and Eve have a clean romance that survives and spans across Rem’s time travel. Warren pens a tightly written suspense novel that engages the reader from the beginning and holds their interest until its conclusion. This is the last novel with Rembrandt and while the reader will miss him, they will be satisfied with its ending. Heart of Stone is filled with hope, suspense, action, faith, and plenty of twists! The plot twists will keep the reader on the edge of their seat, especially in the final chapters. Readers are encouraged to start with the first book, Cast the First Stone, as each book builds on the previous book. Recommended for adults who enjoy crime fiction, time travel, and fans of these authors (Susan May Warren, James L. Rubart, and David Curtis Warren). Carol R. Wow! What an ending! This was an amazing series with so many twists and turns! There were definitely some surprises and I loved how things came together. There was more of Rembrandt's faith journey in this story than the others as he comes to some realizations. There's some romance and police procedural work plus some great action! I definitely suggest reading the whole series as it makes the most sense and you get the greatest satisfaction seeing all Rembrandt goes through to get his family bac Wow! What an ending! This is the sixth and final book in The True Lies of Rembrandt Stone and the action and intensity don't fall off, and in fact, continues on to the very end. Just when you think you know the outcome time throws another wrench in the path that Rem has set before himself. Can he save the woman that he has loved through all the timelines? Or will he lose everything forever? Heart of Stone is the perfect conclusion for fans of keep-you-in-suspense reading. Will the mistakes of the past destroy his future? Only time has the answers. And be sure to read the previous 5 books before tackling this one - if you don't read the books in order you will be more lost than Rem after a time shift. I was provided a complimentary copy of this book with no expectations but that I provide my honest opinion ~ All thoughts expressed are my own.

This is the last book in “The True Lies of Rembrandt Stone” series. I would say this book is like a mix between a cold case show and a time travel movie. The world he has returned to is nothing like he expected and the watch he was gifted that has helped him travel back and forth through time is no longer working. Rembrandt must rely on a friend from the past to help save the future for all of them before it is too late. First of all, I am so sad to see this series come to an end. I loved every single book and was worried that the authors would not be able to bring it to a satisfactory conclusion. There was no need to worry, I am happy to say the conclusion is all that I could have hoped for and more! These books are short, tight, and full of just the right material with no extra “fluff”. The stakes are at their highest for Rembrandt and those he cares about, which kept me glued to the pages. I fell in love with all the characters from the very beginning and each book brought more and more tension increasing my heart rate as it looked like Rem was going to lose it all. There were a lot of loose ends to tie up with this final book, a hefty task for even the best author, but the powerhouse team of David James Warren did it with ease. This is marketed as a Christian novel, but out of all the books this is the only one that really had much mention of God throughout. These are more of a clean read than anything else, no language or anything that would keep me from recommending it to anyone to read. I recommend this book and series to anyone that is looking for a fresh, fun, and full of the best entertainment there is. These books need to be read in order and over and over again. I received a complimentary copy of this title from the publisher. The views and opinions expressed within are my own.

OK, I’m going to voice what I presume will be a very unpopular opinion. I didn’t love "The True lies of Rembrandt Stone" book series as much as I had expected to. So, when they banded together along with Susan‘s son David, I was excited to read what they came up with. The writing in this book is excellent, as I anticipated it would be, but I was disappointed that the faith component I've found in their other books, and a generally happy ending were lacking. Although if you get all the way through to book six, you'll be satisfied with the conclusion. At the beginning of the series, Rembrandt had been a detective for the Minneapolis police department but was currently resigned from police work to focus on writing a book. He was married to the love of his life, and they had a 7-year-old daughter. Each book in the series took Rembrandt back in time to solve a cold case. Of course, Rembrandt couldn’t just solve the cold case, he also felt compelled to change history by preventing some of the crimes that had occurred. But, every time he came back to his present, after changing the past, he found that his actions had altered other parts of his life, also. I guess the biggest lesson I learned from this series of books is that everything happens for a reason, and generally, we won’t know what the reason is until we reach eternity. Possibly, not even then. If you love time travel books with a little bit of romance and a lot of suspense, you’ll probably love this series.

Finishing the final book in a series that has sent you on a myriad of emotional ups and downs for the last nine months or so when you are running a 102-degree fever isn’t something I would recommend but that’s what I did last week. I’d been savoring the book for a couple of weeks, but I couldn’t savor any longer. I had to know how it all turned out. It wasn’t long before the world around me disappeared and I was blowing my nose into a tissue, not from the cold, but from downright emotional blubbering. “I’m not crying,” Rembrandt tells the reader at one point. “Are you?” Yes, I’m crying and blubbering, you fool, because you’ve taken me on a heart-pounding adventure that’s left my heart pounding, my mind spinning, and my heart weeping for a variety of reasons. Thank you, David James Warren for the ride. We’ll have to do it again sometime, but, please, let my heart recover a little bit first, will ya’? What a conclusion to the story! This series has been a little like a television show where you don't get the final conclusion until the series finale. A Twisted and yet exciting journey It was really hard to read these four books, but waiting for Heart of Stone was worth reading the whole set.I have it five stars because I enjoyed all the strange twists.
