This is the first book I have read by this writer. I thought the story had a good feel to it and it moved at a good pace. I thought the two main good characters were done well and they felt like law eneforccement. I thought the bad guy was pretty good and for the most part was not over the top. I thought it was somewhat an orginal story considering the over all topic and had a pretty good ending and did not have the typicla ending which was a nice bonus. I say go ahead and give ths one a big spin.

I WONDERED IF HE WAS THAT DANGEROUS, WHY DRIVE HIM IN A CAR, IT WOULD HAVE BEEN QUICKER AND SAFER TO USE A SPECIALLY EQUIPTED HELICOPTER. I REALLY DIDN'T LIKE ALEXA, SHE'S BATSHIT CRAZY, SHE GIVES LAW INFORCEMENT A BAD NAME. DISGRACEFUL. I DON'T WANT TO READ ANYMORE OF THIS SERIES IF SHE'S IN THEM. The premise of book was interesting, but it really could’ve used another pass by a good editor. The many grammatical errors, redundancies and typos took me out of the plot many times.

A wannabe thriller. I couldn't really get into Alexa Chase. Supposedly a profiler, but pretty inept with an inferiority complex. The book could stand a bit of editing also but then it cost me a whole 99 cents. A wannabe thriller. I couldn't really get into Alexa Chase. I enjoyed this book. Alexa Chase is a very dynamic character driven out of the FBI by the demons left behind from the capture of numerous serial killers. Unable to deal with the memories, Alexa finds herself partnered with Stuart in the US Marshals. They are more like oil and vinegar. As a Marshal, Alexa can hunt down fugitives and leave the hunt for serial killers with those she worked with at the FBI’s BAU. The main character, Alexa, is a former FBI who worked in the BAU. The description says she had a brilliant career, but as the story progresses it doesn’t sound like she was there very long. Another point is her violent tendencies which we learned that the FBI was aware of. Third was the interaction between her and her temp partner. The antagonism was too over the top especially since he’s aware that she is former FBI. These issues prevented me from enjoying the book as much as I could have. I won this book in a goodreads giveaway and I was so pleasantly surprised by it! Alexa (and of course Stuart, the golden retriever of a man I didn’t think I would like at all) were so fun to follow. Honestly I’m ready for a crime show based on those two. Alexa is batshit (and badass) 86% of the time and Stuart is just trying to keep them both alive and I live for that dynamic. A problem I often have with crime books told from the perspective of law enforcement is that I often feel detached from the character - like they exist as a intelligent officer/agent but don’t exist outside of that office. Bold did a wonderful job of letting us see glimpses into Alexa’s life that informed us about who she cares about, what motivates her, and how she became who she is- making us CARE about her. Her relationship with the neighbor girl she’s all but adopted was wonderful but what really shined for me was her connection to her father and brothers. Pure family love at its best. Overall a wonderful crime book that I recommend!

Alexa left the FBI to join the US Marshalls searching for a better life near her family but her first case put her again chasing a vicious serial killer. Alexa is a federal marshall escorting Drake, a serial murderer, to a new prison when an armoured car crashes into the prison bus and Drake makes an escape. The rest of the story is the hunt for Drake, and a lot of his crazy philosophy. I really couldn't get into this book. I found the characters flat and too stereotypical. There was no doubt Drake would be caught. It's just meh....nothing about the book was terrible, but nothing was noteworthy or exciting either. Game of Life A former FBI agent and US Marshall becomes embroiled in a lethal game with a vicious serial killer. He engineered an escape that left her partner and mentor dead. Saddled with an FBI agent partner she is determined to win the killing game. This is a fast paced story. The characters are predictable but it is fun watching it unwind. Alexa is fairly boring but the killer is interesting and appropriately evil. Fun read.

I won this in a giveaway and enjoyed it. It is short enough to read on a weekend afternoon without scenes that drag or unnecessary dialogue that bogs down too many books just for filler. I'm looking forward to the next book in the series because I like the way Alexa and Stuart work together. I hope Stacy and Alexa's dad show up in the next book too. A truly mindblowing read When a notorious murderer is helped to escape from a prison bus transporting him to a more secure facility, Alexander Chase is drawn in to a fast moving, self destroying game of cat and mouse. With every page a blitz to the senses, she is drawn into a number of life threatening scenarios in her efforts to recapture the villain. A must read.

Women need to be strong but not hotheads There needs to be a balance between following procedure and following your instincts. The main character is too much of a hothead and needs to reign herself in a bit so that part of the story was had to read. The writing was good otherwise.

Bazaar Deputy Marshall! I enjoyed thus story as it wasn't just another shooter up macho police story. Real characters with real strengths and weaknesses. edge of your seat reading This is an excellent book. It is indeed suspenseful, but it could also be considered a psychological thriller. Bold gets into the minds of both a killer and a U.S. Marshall and shows how similar they can be. She also emphasizes their differences and that which separates them. When you start reading, be sure you don’t have to wake up early.

I very seldom rate a book at 5 stars. This book grabs you from the start and keeps the reader going forward at a fast pace. I would buy the rest of the books but sadly do not have the extra funds to do so. Hopefully a few of them will come up as a "free" download at some future time. I very seldom rate a book at 5 stars. I did not like the main character. She was not a team player and was too egotistical in believing she was the only one that could catch the villain. As a result, a lit of people got hurt. If this is the author’s theme throughout her writings, I will not read any more of her books.
