Ayden Thompson. The pitcher every batter feared. A heart of gold, a laser focus, and a hundred mile an hour fastball. He longed for a happy family. The one he didn’t have growing up as a kid. Rome saw the lights coming toward him and could do nothing to stop the collision. He bused tables, barely making enough to scrape by. No family or friends to turn to, an injury was the last thing he needed. In true Ayden fashion, he jumped in, offering to help Rome in any way he could. I swear this series gets better and better and honestly I can't say which book is the best. Earned Run is the fourth book in the Espen Emperors series and it was amazing. I was so excited when Marcus and Kasper got their book, but to read Ayden and Rome's story I was blown away. With that being said though, I feel like you have to keep an open mind when reading Rome's side of the story. He's been hurt so much in his life and to let someone in would be so difficult. With that being said though, I feel like you have to keep an open mind when reading Rome's side of the story. He's been hurt so much in his life and to let someone in would be so difficult. I had to look at the big picture when reading his side because remembering that he didn't parental love as he should have. The story and the characters were so well written and it gave me so many feels to see their relationship grow. The relationship Rome built with Kasper was so amazingly special that I just fell in love with Kasper so much more from it. Ayden is a pitcher for the Espen Emperors and Rome is a down on his luck man who changes Ayden's world for the better. After leaving Marcus and Kasper's wedding, Ayden gets into a hit-and-run accident which in turn collides him with Rome's car. Rome breaks his leg and Ayden feels so bad about it he has to make sure Rome is ok. Rome doesn't want his pity nor the help to get back on his feet, but Ayden doesn't take no for an answer. After Rome gets home from the hospital then gets evicted from his apartment, Ayden insists he comes live with him (he doesn't know Ayden is a professional baseball player). No matter how much he fights it, he can't deny the chemistry they have even though Ayden is "straight". The more Ayden spends time with Rome, the more he realizes he may not be as "straight" as he thinks. When they kiss, it changes things. The problem is Rome stays in his head and thinks Ayden can do better. Even though they love each other, hearts get broken and things happen before they find their happiness. I can't express how much I recommend this series. Not only is the writing amazing, but the characters are just so HOT!!! I can't wait for the next book. Another grand slam for Haven Hadley. 5 Stars! "Earn Run" is the 4th book in M/M romance series, Espen Emperors. Rome comes out of this car accident with a broken leg that will take over three months to recover fully, which leads to him losing his only income and room. For as much as Rome resisted help from Ayden, he knew it was needed to heal. Also, Rome was fighting a deep attraction to the straight ballplayer, which made all interaction hard. It took many attempts for Ayden to start working down Rome's protective walls he put up, but Ayden made it through the wall to begin building a friendship. As Ayden already comes with an extensive support team from his teammates, those friends' partners also reach out to Rome to help him through these long months of healing and rehabbing. Next to Ayden, Kasper became Rome's closest person in sharing his negative experiences with his parents. Rome starts to understand that family isn't only the people who raise you but will be people you choose to be there when life gets so low you can call for help. All the people that have come into his life in few weeks are his family. Rome & Ayden now need to figure out if friendship is all they feel or more there?

I don't want to say anymore and ruin it for anyone else with spoilers. I will say that you definitely need to read this book and go on Ayden and Rome's journey as it's so beautifully written and honest in it's emotions. You really can't believe how you feel watching their relationship blossom. This is an INCREDIBLE series where each book is better than the last! I can't recommend it highly enough. Rome tries to second-guess their relationship and decides Ayden can find someone better, especially with all the baggage Rome has to deal with. Fortunately, Ayden’s teammates are more like family than friends, and they are there for Rome to talk to. Will Ayden be able to convince him they really are right for each other? Will Rome allow himself to trust someone finally? Or will Rome continue to be unable to trust his heart to another?

Rome was not so fortunate physically and financially he cannot afford the medical bills, does not have a support system as his parents and family turned their backs on him when he came out and he is living check to check and worries how he will live after he has surgery. Ayden finds himself concerned for and protective of Rome so when he realizes Rome needs a place to land he talks Rome into staying with him while he recuperates. Ayden had been bitter because of his divorce prior to this story but in Rome he finds a partner that he can love, respect and care for. Their love story is caring, patient and sweet. The support that Ayden's friends and teammates give is also touching. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Ayden is a pitcher for the Emperors. He's divorced and doesn't date, his life is baseball. That is, until one day he meets Rome, by accident, literally! He thought his luck was headed in the right direction until an SUV plowed into him. At the hospital, the guy that hit him seems determined to be in his business. As much as Rome tries to push Ayden away, the more Ayden tries to help him. He has the hots for Ayden, but 1) he knows he's straight and 2) holy crap he's a profession baseball player, so Ayden is way out of his league. Rome winds up going home with Ayden to recover and that's where this story takes off. Loved the characters and the very sweet, hot, dirty story that evolves with Rome and Ayden!

This is a dramatic, entertaining and sweet story. Rome is a man who strong, vulnerable, stubborn and full of self doubt, and he doesn't trust easily. Ayden is a caring, determined and sweet guy. While driving home from a friend's wedding, Ayden gets t-boned by a car, which spins his car into Rome's car. Rome's leg is very damaged from the accident, but no matter what Ayden says, Rome doesn't want any help. But when Ayden goes to his place, he finds Rome is getting evicted, because he can't work. Ayden and Rome get their Happily Ever After! Despite being fictional main characters, their stories were so well written you feel drawn to and a part of their world. What a fantastic read! Their story is just my type, damsel in distress rescued by a knight in shining armor or in this case, rescued by getting hit by a knight in shining sport cars. This book had me from the very beginning. Ayden and Rome are terrific characters, as are their group of friends. This story brought into it. It was easy to become invested in. You felt connected to them and their lives. It was easy to lose yourself within the pages. They were friends and you felt their joy and pain. It’s rare to find this, in my opinion. The story was fantastic. The hurt, the pain and the HEA was all just part of journey they took you on and the journey was delightful. I received This book had me from the very beginning. Oh my…I’m in love with Rome. He is my all time favourite from this series. When he is down on his luck and needs just a little help in steps Ayden. His knight in shining armour. They have all the right characteristics for the perfect combination in this love story. Rome is emotional and sensitive, with the best partner for him to help him on his path through the best life he can have. With ups and downs it’s a rollercoaster. Written perfectly.

I liked both Ayden and Rome… their friends were cool… the story was sweet but very cliché with word use towards the end… I wished there could have been a part where both aydens mom and Romes crappy parents could have been dragged by the media… that would have been gold…. Story was a good quick read… can’t wait for the next…

Ayden childhood wasn't stellar, but he has a great relationship with his dad. Rome's home life was horrible and after he left home, he's struggled keeping himself safe. Ayden and Rome are perfect for each other. Ayden is protective, yet has a soft, nurturing side. Rome is sensitive and hardworking. This story has all the things I look for in a romance: great characters, hot men, great friends who support the couple, lots of emotion, and a swoon worthy HEA. Haven Hadley has built a great M/M world in Espen and I hope they continue sharing them with readers. The writing is well done, the character well-developed and the emotions real. I highly recommend this book and the entire series.
